Jeff Gordon Excels in Wine Country
Racing fans know him best for his accomplishments on the track, but NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon is also finding success with an endeavor that doesn’t include a car.
In 2004 the four-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion began producing wine alongside winemakers August “Joe” Briggs and Jesse Inman.
Their mission was to create small-lot wines of distinctive quality and character that appeal to those who enjoy life’s exceptional pleasures. They source superior fruit from some of the finest vineyards in California’s Napa and Sonoma counties, and limit production to ensure the wines are of a distinguished caliber to enjoy with family and friends.
Over the years Jeff Gordon Cellars has produced several award-winning wines and most of their earlier selections have even sold out.
The vineyard mostly focuses on red wines like the robust Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir.
For those who like something a little lighter, the Napa Valley Rosé of Syrah is crisp with notes of flower blossoms, subtle watermelon and strawberry.
With hints of citrus, honey and some oak flavor, the Carneros Chardonnay is a great selection for something in between the rich reds and flowery Syrah.
