Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation Makes the Move to Historic South End
Charlotte, N.C. (April 28, 2016) – Jeff Gordon and Ingrid Vandebosh hosted the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation (JGCF) open house celebrating the Foundation’s new home in Charlotte’s historic South End neighborhood.
“Being located close to Uptown, the Charlotte-Douglas airport and within a creative and diverse neighborhood was really important to us and to the growth of the Foundation,” said Jeff Gordon, Founder of the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation. “We are really looking forward to expanding our presence and partnerships in the community in which we live and work.”
Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation relocated from Concord, NC to the South End neighborhood at the end of 2015. On the evening of April 27th local business leaders, donors, and friends of the Foundation were invited to the newly renovated office located at 1310 South Tryon Street to celebrate the new space and learn more about the foundation’s future endeavors.
“We are proud to call Charlotte home. The community has so generously supported our work to bring life-saving research to children battling cancer at home and around the world”, said Trish Kriger Executive Director of Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation.
Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation was established in 1999 and supports pediatric cancer research, equitable access to treatment and patient support programs. To-date JGCF has granted more than $16.5 million to support children battling cancer. Additionally, Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation has a long-standing partnership with Carolinas Healthcare System through Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital in Concord, N.C. and Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, NC.
In 2012, JGCF expanded its efforts globally. Working in collaboration with Partners in Health, Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the Ministry of Health of Rwanda to establish the Butaro Cancer Center of Excellence (BCCE). BCCE opened its doors in July of 2012, and has treated over 5,000 patients who would otherwise have no access to care. The country now boasts one of the highest achieving cancer programs on the continent, and the only rural cancer center in all of East Africa.
