Indianapolis: Qualifying Notes

JEFF GORDON, NO. 24 DRIVE TO END HUNGER CHEVROLET, QUALIFIED 9TH: ON HIS QUALIFYING: "Not bad. Top-10. I'm happy with that. I thought it was going to be a little bit better than that. The way we practiced, I thought we had a little be more than speed than that. You never know. The sun comes out and the track temperature goes up. But, the car had good balance. Just a little bit too free on the exit of the corners, and I just couldn't quite get the throttle down all the way as early as I wanted to. All-in-all I thought it was a pretty solid lap."

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT ON SUNDAY? "The same things. It is going to be tough to pass. All the challenges that Indianapolis brings all along with it, which I love. You've got four corners that are all different. You have to approach them differently. You have to communicate very well with the team to get the car balanced out and compromise it with those four corners. Our car has plenty of speed in it, so I am happy about that. Just have got to find that balance. I thought there was a couple of times in practice that we found it. Now we know we are starting ninth, we'll tweak on that a little bit because we know the aerodynamics and being in traffic is going to change that."
